Shield of Hope

Protecting Girls Before They Need Rescuing

In Northern Mexico's border communities, 1 in 3 girls faces the threat of sexual abuse before age 18. Through Christ-centered prevention programs, Church Mexico's Rescuing Girls ministry creates safe spaces where vulnerable girls learn to recognize danger, build healthy relationships, and embrace their God-given worth—stopping trafficking before it starts.

The Urgent Reality

A Crisis at Our Border

Every day in the communities between Mexicali and San Luis Rio Colorado, young girls face dangers that threaten to steal their futures. The statistics are heartbreaking, but they represent real children made in God's image—and with your help, we can protect them.

The Stark Reality We Face

When we reach girls before trauma occurs, we change entire life trajectories. Prevention through education, community support, and spiritual formation costs a fraction of rescue efforts and creates lasting transformation for generations.

Why Prevention Matters

When we reach girls before trauma occurs, we change entire life trajectories. Prevention through education, community support, and spiritual formation costs a fraction of rescue efforts and creates lasting transformation for generations.

Our Region's Vulnerability

The border region faces unique challenges: economic desperation, family separation due to migration, and organized trafficking networks that prey on vulnerable communities. Church Mexico works directly in these high-risk areas where intervention matters most.

Our Approach

Prevention Through Faith and Community

Church Mexico's Rescuing Girls ministry goes beyond awareness—we're building a protective network of churches, families, and communities united in keeping girls safe. Our Gospel-centered approach addresses root causes while providing practical tools for protection.

Biblical Foundation

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." (Mark 10:14) We believe God calls us to be protectors of the innocent, standing against evil and creating environments where children can thrive.

Holistic Protection Model

Our prevention strategy works at multiple levels: empowering girls with knowledge and confidence, training church leaders to address abuse, engaging young men in respectful relationship education, and mobilizing entire congregations as protective communities.

Multiplication Strategy

By training local pastors and youth leaders, we create sustainable protection networks that expand beyond our direct reach. Each trained church becomes a beacon of safety in their community, multiplying our impact exponentially.

Transformation In Action

Maria's Story

"Before attending the Rescuing Girls workshop, I didn't know that what was happening to me was wrong. Learning that God sees me as precious and that I deserve respect changed everything. Now I help other girls in my community recognize warning signs too."

Pastor David's Testimony

I never imagined our small church could address something as big as trafficking. But with Church Mexico's training and support, we've created a safe environment where families can talk about these difficult topics. We've already identified and helped three at-risk girls in our congregation.

A Future Unhindered

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder

them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

-Matthew 19:4

A major challenge for the children we meet in Mexico is that most of their parents were pulled out of high school or even elementary school to try and make ends meet for their own families growing up. So when the children we work with come back from school with homework or projects, their parents don’t have the tools or support structure to help their child succeed.

Despite how much these parents may want to help their children, the lack of equipment and preparation makes it nearly impossible, which results in academic struggles for the child - bad grades, discouragement, slow learning pace, and more. With these challenges, some parents may eventually pull their children from school and repeat the generational cycle of working to live, instead of living to glorify God and enjoy His Grace.

Keele's Reflection

"Seeing these girls go from silent and withdrawn to confident and joyful—knowing they have a community that will protect them—that's when I see God's kingdom breaking through the darkness."

United Churches, Protected Communities

Church Mexico doesn't work alone. We've built a coalition of churches across Northern Mexico committed to protecting their children. Together, we're creating a protective network that traffickers cannot penetrate.

Over 100 church leaders have committed to making trafficking prevention a priority in their congregations, reaching an estimated 2,000 families with protective messages.

A Future Worth Fighting For

Right now, there are girls in Northern Mexico who will face danger this week. But with your support, we can reach them first with a message of hope, tools for protection, and a community that refuses to let them fall through the cracks. The Gospel isn't just about eternal salvation—it's about abundant life here and now, free from fear and full of purpose.

Fruits of Our Labor, Fruits of Your Support

Volunteers from La Iglesia en San Luis provide daily love and support to these children in a safe and healthy environment. Church Mexico has constructed classrooms over the years, and through generous support of many friends is now able to provide internet, printers, school supplies and several laptops to assist in homework activities. Most of the kids we work with don’t have internet at home, and almost none have laptops, which are required for homework starting in Elementary School.

Through Kingdom Kids Ministry, sponsored children receive spiritual nourishment and mentorship, helping them grow in their faith and develop a strong moral foundation. Build a personal relationship with your sponsored child, exchanging letters and photos, and witnessing firsthand the positive changes your support drives into their lives. Positive changes like we've seen in Ministry participants Alexia, Yael and Johan who graduated class of 2024 and will be the first in their respective families to attend college. These bright young souls are on track to meaningfully break a generations-long cycle of poverty for themselves as well as their families.
